Bio:  Andy Murfield is a saxophonist, doubler, arranger, and band leader that grew up in Northern Indiana, and studied at Western Michigan University. Andy performed in WMU’s esteemed Jazz studies program from 2010-2015. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Music with a focus in jazz.

In addition to teaching in the Metro Detroit area, he currently leads his own 15-piece funk band, ‘Crime Funk’. He also performs saxophone in the Kalamazoo based band, ‘The Real Fantastics, the Indiana based band, ‘Rekt’, and plays sax and bass guitar in the Metro Detroit band, ‘J2C’.

While at WMU, Andy had the opportunity to play with the Western MIchigan University Jazz Orchestra, playing with artists, i.e. Randy Brecker and Miguel Zenon. As a freelancer, he has performed with groups, ‘Ultraviolet Hippopotamus’, the ‘Rick Holland Big Band’, ‘Earphorik’, and the ‘Nashon Holloway Band’, to name some.
